Materials Needed:

  • screwdriver
  • cloth
  • wood cleaner, such as Murphy Oil Soap
  • removable vinyl decals
  • painter's tape
  • straight edge (like an old credit card)
  • utility knife
  • medium-grit sandpaper
  • paintbrush
  • latex paint
  • water-based sealer

Step 1

Unscrew any drawer pulls or knobs and set aside. Wipe down the stand with the cloth and cleaner.

Step 2

Position the removable decal on the front; secure with a piece of painter’s tape at the top. We used Affordable Vinyl Graphics flower embellishment (from $4 each, mywalldecals.com). Apply the decal according to the instructions, running a straight edge over it to eliminate air bubbles. Use a utility knife to slice through any of the decal that spans across more than one drawer.

Step 3

Lightly sand all the wood around the decal, then wipe it down with a cloth. If you want the stand’s legs to remain unpainted, like ours, tape them off.
