Materials Needed:
- 12x12 mint-green scrapbook paper (each sheet will make 10 trees)
- 6" paper doilies
- lollipop sticks
- marshmallows
- milk chocolate morsels
- baking sheet
- double-boiler or 2 small pots
- wax paper
- scissors
- glue stick
- clear tape
- pencil
- ruler
Draw Tree Shapes
Fold 12x12 sheet of paper in half then cut along the folded edge, creating two 6x12 sheets. On one half, mark the bottom edge with a pencil and ruler at 4", 8" and 12". Mark the top edge at 2", 6" and 10". Connect the marks in a diagonal pattern to create five triangular trees. Repeat this process on the other scrapbook paper half, creating another five trees.
Cut Out Trees and Add Doilies
Using scissors, cut out all 10 trees. Wrap a 6-inch doily around each tree shape, folding the ends over and securing them to the back with a glue stick.
Make Tree Stumps
Place two marshmallows on the end of each lollipop stick and set them aside on a wax paper-covered baking sheet. Pour chocolate morsels into a double-boiler over low heat and stir constantly until chocolate has evenly melted. Using the lollipop stick as a handle, dip marshmallows fully into melted chocolate then return them to the wax-covered baking sheet to cool. Tip: We sprinkled graham-cracker dust over the wet chocolate for some extra pizzazz. Other kid-friendly options would be to roll them in mini M&Ms, colorful sprinkles or peppermint crumbles. Note: Melted chocolate can easily burn small children so it's best that the chocolate steps are handled by an adult.
