Crossover Stitch Scarf

Impress others with this striking crossover stitch pattern. Once you've mastered the technique, try knitting the entire piece in the crossover pattern for an all-over delicate lacy look.
Materials and Tools:
Kid Classic by Rowan (3 balls)
US needle size 11 (or size to obtain gauge)
large-eye yarn needle for weaving in ends
Gauge: 24 sts = 4" (10cm) in pattern stitch
Finished Measurements: 4" x 70"
Steps:
Pattern Stitch
Rows 1 - 4: Knit.
Row 5: K1, *insert needle into next stitch and wrap yarn 4 times around the point of the needle, then knit the stitch bringing all the wraps through the stitch* repeat between * across.
Row 6: *Slip 8 stitches with yarn in back, dropping all extra wraps, thus forming 8 long stitches on the right hand needle. Then insert the left hand needle into the first 4 of these 8 stitches and pass them over the second 4. Then return all sts to the left hand needle and knit the 8 crossed stitches in the new order * repeat between * across.
Rows 7 - 10: Knit.
Row 11: Repeat row 5.
Row 12: Slip 4 sts dropping extra wraps, then cross 2 over 2 as in row 6 and Knit these 4 stitches, * slip 8 stitches with yarn in back, dropping all extra wraps, thus forming 8 long stitches on the right hand needle. Then insert the left hand needle into the first 4 of these 8 stitches and pass them over the second 4. Then return all sts to the left hand needle and knit the 8 crossed stitches in the new order * repeat between * twice. Slip 4 sts dropping extra wraps, then cross 2 over 2 as in row 6 and Knit these 4 stitches.
