Paint the Background
Using black spray paint, paint your beadboard black and let it dry. Use a power sander on the edges and the front of the beadboard to create a distressed look. Wipe down the board with a damp cloth to remove all the black dust.
Print Text and Distress
To find Halloween text to print for your background, search for "spooky Halloween words" in Google and click on "Images" for a variety of choices, or click here to download a PDF from Brown Paper Packages. Lay your Distress Ink on top of your Halloween text and rub straight across the paper until it is as distressed as you like. Go around the edges as well. Use double-stick tape to adhere it to the beadboard.
Make a simple "boo" template using Microsoft Word; choose a font and print your letters in an extra-large size, then cut out. Layer your "boo" template on top of patterned scrapbook paper, trace and cut. Distress all the edges. Adhere it to a piece of black scrapbook paper or card stock. Glue the black card stock (with "boo" letters on top) onto the Halloween text background. Finally, use a foam brush to paint a light coat of Mod Podge over the top and let dry completely.
