The homeowner owns an older, charming house in an area enjoying a period of restoration. Her yard is small and plain, and she wants to make it more inviting. Her vision is to take her yard from its current barren state to a lush oasis that she can enjoy. Tom Reese of Legacy Landscapes creates a plan to give Suzanne what she is looking for. He makes an old stone structure in the back yard a focal point by turning it into a sitting area with a new arbor across the top. He encloses the back yard with wood fencing and demolishes the existing patio and replaces it with a paver patio. A water garden connected to the patio will be used as a spa; it looks like a pond, but it doubles as a hot tub. Walkways and steps made of flagstone are added throughout the yard. Planting daffodils, azaleas, hostas, cedars and maples complements the hardscapes.
