Homeowners Robin and Bill are moving to their dream home--the perfect home on nice acreage that was just waiting to be renovated on the inside and out. Because the house sits on a large piece of property, Bill and Robin want their home to feel welcoming as visitors drive up. They also want to soften their landscape by removing some concrete from the driveway and by adding plants.
Bruce Holiday of Pike Nurseries has designed a soft, yet formal plan for the homeowners. As visitors drive up the winding driveway, they can either pull up in front of or behind the island that sits in front of the house. Holiday plans to make the island a lush, welcoming focal point. The front entrance to the home will be flanked on either side by perennial beds. Holiday has also designed a courtyard using brick pavers and featuring a fountain. This structure will replace an existing concrete parking pad. Finally, the pool area in the back will be renovated.
