HGTV Green Home 2009: Platinum LEED Certification

The following eco-friendly features were the largest contributing factors in the decision to award the 2009 HGTV Green Home its Platinum LEED Certification.

1. Solar energy panels
2. ICF Walls/spray foam/sealed envelope
3. Solar hot water
4. Low E windows
5. Metal roof
6. High-efficiency air conditioning

Indoor air quality, the A/C filtration, energy recovery ventilators and contaminant control (i.e. detached garage) were also contributing factors, as was the landscaping that incorporated drought-tolerant plants and high-efficiency irrigation.
