Although Gary has had a lifelong love of nature, it was during his studies at San Diego State University when his passion for ornamental horticulture, garden design and landscape construction was born. While still an undergraduate, Gary's love of garden design became a full-time job and, after earning his degree in international relations, he supplemented his education with additional courses in landscape architecture, environmental studies, landscape construction and nursery production.
Gary later moved to San Francisco, where he opened a succession of nurseries for exotic plants. His idea for bringing tropical plants to the region was met with a fantastic response. As a result, Gary's design work can be seen throughout the Bay area, including residential communities, avenues and public buildings, and the Oakland Zoo.
Gary, host of HGTV's Superscapes, continues to design and install gardens throughout California.
