In a mobile home park in south Florida, Vicky and Ron Paris planted an oasis around their trailer home, which is located on a freshwater lake. Vicky planted ti plants and aralia, (houseplants to most folks) in her garden beside paths that wander through the small property. She made raised beds for her plants and top dresses with weedy muck from the freshwater lake that her husband Ron pulls up for her. Plants featured are alocaia, 'African Mask', firespike and the cherry palm. Many of Vicky plants are epiphytes, which she wraps in coconut burlap and attaches to her trees. Epiphytes need no soil and their roots will grow through the burlap and attach to the tree as they age. Plants featured are 'Crown of Thorns' and 'Royal Ponciana'. Coconuts come floating to the Paris' property from the lake. Often they sprout, and Vicky places them in her garden. The 'Powder Puff' tree is featured with its pink blossoms that last one day.
