This garden is directly beneath a highway overpass. Jane Fishman, a features columnist for a local newspaper, combined a mix of plants and found artifacts to bring interest and focus to the garden. Japanese iris, ornamentals and tropicals are planted among the rocks, bottles and bricks. This unusual garden is next to a kayak factory, which provides wood shavings for Fishman's compost pile. Fishman considers the location the ultimate in urban gardening. Vertical interest is a new design concept in gardening, and many of Fishman's structures spire high into the sky. Composting is important, and Fishman uses lots of leftover greens and potatoes from a local restaurant. Amaryllis grow tall in her garden.
