The creative design background Evan Farmer brings to HGTV's Freestyle is as diverse as it is long. After two years at the renowned Tulane School of Architecture and working professionally as both draftsman and a graphic designer for several firms, Evan, along with friend and architect Tom Granthem, started Renovolution, a company that renovates fringe area, single-family homes in New Orleans.
For over three years, Evan enjoyed high ratings and national attention as he hosted TLC's hit show While You Were Out, handcrafting custom-designed furniture and periodically designing his way through over 200 homes across America.
Evan first made entertainment news with his portrayal of the central character Jerry O'Keefe in MTV's first made-for-television movie, 2GE+HER, for which he recorded lead vocals on the soundtrack and follow up album. He continued his MTV/2GE+HER tenure reprising his lead role in a weekly television series based on the film. An off-shoot of the show's popularity led to 2GE+HER claiming the much-coveted position as opening band for the Britney Spears' "Oops I Did It Again" Summer Tour 2000.
Prior to 2GE+HER, Evan joined the world tour of the chart-topping Russian pop-rock group Ha-Ha, singing lead, playing guitar and traveling extensively throughout Russia. His film credits include Austin Powers in Goldmember and Shaft Returns. Television credits include guest-starring roles on the TV series D.A.G. and JAG. He also played a recurring role on the CBS Daytime Drama Guiding Light, as well as a three-year stint doing voices on the popular animated comedy Daria. In addition, he has hosted MTV's top-rated show Total Request Live (TRL) and is a staple guest of several ongoing VH1 shows.
Evan is most proud to be actively involved in supporting several charities including the Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Michael Cuccione Foundation, Rebuilding Together, Bras For a Cause and Unicef: Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund. He has just begun recording his second charity album and DVD in an effort to raise money for the advancement of research for a cure and treatment of ovarian cancer.
