Vintage tablecloths can become hip holiday gifts when transformed into kitchen towels. Look for inexpensive, interesting tablecloths for this project on Ebay or Etsy or in your favorite vintage store.
Materials Needed:
- vintage Christmas tablecloths
- matching thread
- sewing machine
- quilter's ruler
- rotary cutter
- cutting mat
- homemade cookies
- white pastry box
- wax paper
Cut Tablecloths
Use the quilter’s ruler and rotary cutter to create 12-inch by 18-inch pieces of the tablecloths.
Hem Dish Towels
Using the sewing machine and matching thread, create a 1/4-inch hem on each cut side of the towel. Leave the existing hems on edges and corners.
Wrap Cookies
Once the towel is complete, use it as functional wrapping paper for homemade cookies. Fill a white pastry box with a wax paper liner and a pile of homemade cookies.
Place the box in the middle of the towel, with the flat sides of the box facing the corners. Fold one corner of the towel over the box, then fold the opposite corner of the towel over the box.
