Red Wine Brownies

Dessert is a fun item to bring to a dinner party, and while it can be tempting to try something new, it is safer to simply update an old standby.

Brownie Ingredients:

• Packaged brownie mix of choice
• 1 tablespoon red wine

Directions:

Prepare brownie mix according to box directions. Add 1 tablespoon red wine to the mix. Bake as directed.

Red Wine Sauce Ingredients:

• 4 tablespoons butter
• 3 ounces dark or bittersweet chocolate, chopped
• 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar if using dark chocolate, (2 tablespoons if using bittersweet chocolate)
• 3 tablespoons red wine

Directions:

Melt butter over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and add chocolate, sugar and wine. Stir over low heat until mixture is smooth (don't let it boil). Pour hot wine mixture over the fresh-from-the-oven pan of brownies and let stand for an hour or so, until glaze has set.
