The HGTV Dream Home 2013 daybed mattress measures 38” x 75” long; to accommodate this size a 39” x 76” platform was constructed. This project will be based on those dimensions.

Step 7
Use wood filler to conceal lag bolts. Sand the platform completely, prime the surface and paint.
Step 8
To support the weight of the bed, block in the ceiling or locate floor/ceiling joists. Mark the ceiling above the four corners of the bed. Drill pilot holes into the ceiling. Screw eye bolts into the ceiling. Determine the chain or rope length to finish the mattress 24 inches off of the floor.
