Hide CaptionShow CaptionThe master bedroom of this year's HGTV Dream Home is truly a tropical retreat, featuring a cool blue color scheme matched with antique white furnishings and a balcony with incredible views of the Florida Bay. The bedroom suite was designed by HGTV's Monica Pedersen, with a little help from HGTV Dream Home fans. Pedersen created three concepts using different color schemes, and the pale blue and cream design was voted the winner by visitors to HGTV.com in an online poll in the spring of 2007.
Look around the bedroom, and you can see how Pedersen really captured the casual atmosphere of the Florida Keys, but also made sure to include a level of luxury expected in a master bedroom.
"When I created the three design plans for the online voting, each design was inspired by a predominant textile. I was very excited by the classic buffalo check because it is a timeless print that is appropriate in the country, in the mountains or here by the beach," Pedersen says. "The use of fabric also softens the room and really draws attention to two of the room's greatest features: the soaring ceiling and spectacular view of the Florida Bay."
