Sand the Notches
Sand each notch with an electric hand sander or a sanding block wrapped in 80-grit sandpaper.
Check the Fit
Check to make sure the first shelf fits properly, and assuming it does, repeat steps for making it to create the second shelf.
Check the Fit on the Second Shelf
Once the second shelf is cut and the corners have been sanded, check to make sure it fits properly below the first shelf.
