The staircase was sculpted to look as if it had been in this new home for over 100 years. The painted raised panel stringer and dark stained Mahogany newel post and hand rail reflect finishes that were typical of the Victorian era, back when Prairie Avenue was the most exclusive and fashionable address in Chicago.
