In this space, creating a larger opening between the kitchen and family room required enlarging the opening of a load bearing wall — what used to be the original back of the house. The family room addition was redone by raising the floors to the same level of the kitchen and adding French doors and original molding details to make this space more integrated into the rest of the home. The transom windows allow more light to reach the kitchen.
