Embracing style, sophistication and serenity, Los Angeles architect Lewin Wertheimer has remodeled and reconfigured a historic 1920s John Byers U-shaped adobe-style hacienda – both returning it to its original splendor, as well as adding new elements of warmth and grace to this remarkable property. To take full advantage of the lush setting, nearly all rooms were reconfigured to face and open onto the multiple garden oases, luxuriously designed by Jay Griffith. With light and garden-life changing throughout the day, a new vibrancy and energy entered each room. Interior by Sasha Emerson. Photography by Douglas Hill.
