The designers transform a boring kitchen into a funky space for less than $500.

The cabinets were given a fresh new faux finish that added texture to the space. New retro hardware and fun vintage bottle caps also gave character to the trim.

A smoothing paint treatment in a soft butter tone was added to the walls to give the kitchen a vivid glow.

Black ribbon embellishes vintage fabric to deliver impact and boldness to the windows. The fabric was hung with a tension rod housed in tiki torch handles for a natural look. Inexpensive thrift store bracelets were used as rings to attach the fabric to the rods.

A peninsula made from a solid maple door provided counter space. It is attached to the wall with a supportive brace and given aluminum legs for extra support.

Grommets and beaded chains were added to complementary fabric to make a simple, yet colorful window treatment.

An above-the-stove shelf provided additional storage and display space for collectibles and utensils.

A few thrift store chairs were added to an existing table to provide additional seating in the area. A large colorful geometric rug was cut into two smaller rugs that added depth and brightness to the room.

A simple swag light provided additional lighting as well as an attractive accessory, and a wall lamp was covered with fabric to match the curtains. This also helped to introduce more color to the kitchen.

A vintage wall clock was attached to a wheel cover to make the accessory more dramatic, and a collection of vintage coffee pots are transformed into art as they are group together on a shelf. Several vintage trays were hung on the wall to create a fun twist.
