If you have a deep-set cabinet pantry, then your best bet for storing your canned items, dry goods and bottles is to install rollout drawers and trays on sliders. This allows you to slide your food items out toward you so nothing gets lost in the abyss of the deep, dark back of the cabinet, making everything easy to find and access. Wire baskets and storage bins work really well for holding produce and dried legumes and grains. Shallow shelving on the inside of the cabinet doors is a great storage option for canned goods, bottles and spices.

For recessed and reach-in pantry cabinets, shallow shelves are really the only way to go. Otherwise, you won't be able to find anything beyond what's in the front without pulling everything out. To avoid this mess, combine shallow shelves with rollout drawers and trays, plus storage bins.

Another storage trick I love is to use see-through plastic containers to store cereal, pasta, rice, beans, and other loose dried goods. This allows you to throw bulky, mismatched boxes away for a cleaner, streamlined look. Sometimes with these types of pantry cabinets, the shelves are set a little deeper. If your shelving is a little deeper, then well-spaced dividers work really well to separate your storage items so they aren't jumbled.

For tighter pantry cabinet spaces, rotating drawers and shelving are a great way to make the most of the storage space you have. One shelf is pulled out to reveal a new shelf, and they rotate to reveal even more shelves, expanding and collapsing in on themselves. What looks like a normal size cabinet suddenly seems much larger, with every item having a place. A lazy Susan is a great storage option that will allow you easy access to items as it spins items from back to front, and cabinets with open shelving to store spices or cookbooks efficiently help you keep things within reach while you are preparing a meal.

Another storage option is to convert unused kitchen drawers into little mini-pantries for extra items. Cubbies are really fun too, especially to use as a special storage space for kids' items. You can stack cubbies with pullout clear jars and containers, as well as baskets and special utensils.
