Materials Needed:

  • pendant light kit Tip: Choose a pendant light kit with a lampshade included.
  • fabric lampshade with fittings matching pendant light kit
  • 24" tie wire
  • 25' 20-lbs test fishing line
  • roll wax paper
  • glitter Mod Podge
  • disposable sponge paintbrush
  • tin foil
  • baking sheet
  • hole punch
  • 2" circle cutter or scissors
  • wire cutters

Mod Podge Wax Paper

For a 16-inch long pendant, with two rows of faux shells, tear off six 24-inch sections of wax paper. Crease center of wax paper by folding in half. Unfold and paint half of inside of wax paper with glitter Mod Podge. Fold closed, pressing firmly to remove air pockets. Tip: Any creases or folds will create natural imperfections, making shells appear more organic. Paint top of folded wax paper with glitter Mod Podge, set aside and allow to dry. Repeat for remaining wax paper sections. When top is dry, flip wax paper over and paint back side with glitter Mod Podge. Let dry completely.

Cut Then Bake Shells

With wax paper completely dry, cut 2-inch circles out of wax paper. Tip: Use 2-inch circle cutter to save time and create perfect circles. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line baking sheet with tin foil. Arrange shells on foil and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Shells will firm up when cooled. Tip: Natural discoloration from baking will create more organic looking shells.
