Create a Luxurious Bathroom With Out-of-the-Ordinary Furniture

Bathrooms with furniture have become one of the most comfortable spaces in the house. Here are some ideas for transforming a bathroom into a luxurious space.

Bathrooms have become far more than functional rooms in our homes, and we now select furniture for these spaces just as we do for other spaces. Some homeowners are even bringing big screen televisions and fireplaces into the bathroom.

Here are some ideas to keep in mind as you contemplate your bathroom makeover:

  • While metal is durable and plastics are safe, nothing beats the warm look of wood in a bathroom. Apply a thin layer of polyurethane to a piece to seal it and repel water, making it ready for bathroom use.
  • A GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupter) can add the charm and luxury of a lamp to a bathroom. It looks like a regular plug but has a switch in the middle that will cut the power if a lamp gets too wet, saving you from a dangerous situation.
  • A good way to dress up a bathroom is to hang a piece of art. Just be sure that it’s not a watercolor, that it’s covered with glass and sealed around the back so that it’s airtight, and that it’s on paper, not canvas.
