Resort-Style Pool Area
Lounge chairs fill several niches in this resort-style patio, providing a place for many guests to relax. A raised wading pool sits on one side of the pool and houses two chairs immersed in the water for an island getaway feel. The loggia area features a dining area for eight, as well as a large outdoor living area that surrounds an oversized limestone fireplace complete with a flat-panel TV. The glass tile in the pool interior reflects the water, while the LED lighting allows the homeowner to create different moods in the courtyard by altering the color of the light. Bold Focal Point
A vibrant red fireplace is the focal point of this colorful, contemporary backyard. The red and charcoal stucco fireplace features a mantel veneered in a gray stacked stone pattern for a dimensional look. The water features give the illusion that water is flowing into the pool from the upper deck, and the pool wall is made with four different tiles to add texture to the space. Design by Randy Angell

A Backyard Getaway
This backyard oasis designed by Jamie Durie is made up of several materials, such as timber, sandstone and copper accents, which create a serene environment. The poolside towers provide privacy and feature a front-face glass that houses cascading water for an effect you'd normally only see at a high-end resort.

Serene Eating Area

Landscape designer Jamie Durie installed this corner trellis to take advantage of every inch of space. The curved deck sits right at the edge of the pool, and floating benches allow for entertaining a large crowd. A planter box trailing across the fence blocks the harsh sun yet still catches the light. Ocean-colored pots tie in the color of the pool, and white poufs serve double duty as ottomans and pool toys.
Mod Outdoor Entertaining
Designer Velvet Hammerschmidt converted this large backyard into four areas for entertaining, including a place for lounging by the pool. She added Paola and Richard Schulz furniture to provide an area for eating around the pool. A spacious balcony gives a view of the entire backyard, while sliding glass doors allow for views of the pool from indoors.
Water Park at Home
This elaborate pool setup looks like a water park, but it's actually a backyard. The 45-foot pool slide adds a fun element to the yard for both kids and adults. The archways and stone and stucco elements bring visual appeal, while a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen make the space great for entertaining guests. Design by Scott Cohen
