Sleek Shape

You can bring the look of a campfire to your outdoor space without having a rustic or earthen style. Go for a more modern look with the aptly named Modfire, which is designed and manufactured by hand in Phoenix, Ariz., and comes in vibrant hues such as orange, red and blue agave.

For Fairy Tale Fans?

For kids, this chiminea may resemble the top of Rapunzel's tower, or for adults, an overgrown garden gnome. The garden chiminea by the Blue Rooster Co. is made of cast aluminum, with a rose and hummingbird motif. And there's a bonus: The company says you can make pizza and bread using a special cast iron grill insert.

Mid-Century Find

Some chimineas have sought-after features, such as original red enamel. This mid-century chiminea, found by California store Surfing Cowboys, has a steel base and the original screen.

Modern Icon

Although it gives out heat, the style of the Malm Fireplace couldn't be any cooler. Despite its name, we're claiming it as a chiminea. The freestanding steel cauldron opens up to give a clear view of the fire, whether you're lounging in a pool or out. Sold by Design Within Reach.

Classic in Cast Iron

This cast iron chiminea means business, with a screen to contain flames and an adjustable flue to control the fire's burn rate. The wood-burning chiminea, in an antique copper finish, is sold by The Home Depot.

Cute Focal Point

Textured terra cotta transforms a plain chiminea. The Sunset Chiminea mixes patterns such as checks, dots, squiggles and latticework that are often seen in items by MacKenzie-Childs, a New York company that designs, manufactures and sells luxury handcrafted ceramics, furniture, garden furniture and more.

Original Design

Here's a cool concept: Get a chiminea and an original work of art in one. California artist Dagan Koffler designed and welded this steel chiminea, sold through CustomMade (starting at $1,500).

Geometric Stunner

To add an industrial edge to your outdoors, this chiminea is made of raw hand-welded steel formed in sharp geometric lines. The Prism Steel Chiminea, handmade in the U.S., is sold by Terrain, which has an online store and shops in Glen Mills, Penn., and Westport, Conn.

Copper Chiminea

The use of cooper gives an old-timey look to this new chiminea. The Jatex Copper Chiminea is sold at outdoor living retailers such as Atlanta's AuthenTEAK. Take off the top and the chiminea converts to a grill, or remove the grill and it comes a fire pit or beverage holder.

Steel Structure

Get warm and a full-on view of the fire with this slender pyramid-style chiminea, which also can be used as a grill. The sculptural RAIS Gizeh is made of corten steel, which rusts for good—to protect from any further corrosion.

Traditional Clay Chiminea

Portability is one reason why some people opt for a chiminea over a fireplace. At larger retailers such as The Home Depot, there's a range of clay chimineas for less than $100, such as this columned chiminea that comes with an iron stand.

Futuristic Look

We see a bit of a retro Jetsons-style appeal in the Tilman Chiminea from Joss & Main. It's made of steel with a grate for making 'smores.

Compact Chiminea

A vine design wraps around this petite chiminea, which still has space for wood and roasting marshmellows. Made of cast aluminum, in a charcoal color, by The Blue Rooster Co.

Sunny Hue

The yellow tint of this clay chiminea can remind you of sunnier days, especially during that time of the year when darkness sets earlier. The chiminea is sold at The Home Depot.
