Materials Needed

  • white shirt
  • tan skirt or pants
  • brown scarf
  • red card stock
  • assorted colors of glitter card stock
  • red balloon
  • head band
  • double-sided tape
  • coffee filters
  • scissors

Make Whipped Cream From Coffee Filters

Fold a single coffee filter in half (Image 1). Fold right side in toward center (Image 2) and repeat on left side (Image 3) until a cone shape is achieved. Repeat process on five additional coffee filters. Set aside.

Attach Filters to Balloon

Inflate red balloon until round. Look in a mirror to judge size of the 'cherry' in proportion to the headband and your head. Create a ring of double sided tape around balloon tie (Image 1). Press the point of each coffee filter firmly into tape (Image 2) until each section of exposed tape is covered (Image 3).

Attach Balloon to Headband

Stretch balloon tie to underside of headband, slightly skewed to one side (Image 1). Tape securely with regular tape (Image 2).

Add Cherry Stem

Cut out a thin strip of red card stock (Image 1), rounding off one end (Image 2). Bend a one-inch section at the bottom of the 'stem' at a 90-degree angle (Image 3). Attach to top of balloon with double-sided tape (Image 4).

Make Sprinkles

Cut glitter cardstock into strips one inch wide and three inches long (Images 1 & 2). Round off edges of each strip (Images 3 & 4).

Assemble Costume

Wearing a tan skirt (ice cream cone), white shirt (vanilla ice cream) and brown scarf (chocolate sauce), use double-sided tape to attach sprinkles to upper portion of shirt and scarf. Attach cherry headband and you're ready to party!
