Give mullions a new window on life with these repurposing projects.

  • Construct a three-panel screen from mullions and old thrift-store curtains. First, whitewash the grids to give them an aged, antique look. Then attach curtain fabric to the back of each grid with hot glue and a staple gun. Finally, hinge the three panels together.
  • Make a combination light box and plant stand with four panels. Paint the grids red and hinge them together. Staple sheer fabric onto the backs of the grids and fold the grids into a square around a light source. Lay a piece of board on top to serve as a tabletop.
  • Make a candle fixture from two grids and some acrylic poster board. Spray-paint the grids black and fasten them together back to back with wood glue. Screw eye bolts and chains into the grids at each corner. Cut the clear poster board to size and glue it onto the grids with epoxy. Then glue votive holders onto the poster board. The piece is hung from the ceiling with the eye bolts and chains.
