A table slipcover can bring color, pattern and texture to your dining room. The fabric you choose for this project will set a color palate for the rest of the space.

Materials and Tools:

fabric
cording
coordinating fabric for welting
kraft paper for template (optional)
iron
sewing machine
thread

Steps:

1. Measure width and length of tabletop. If needed, create a paper template. Cut fabric top based on dimensions or template, adding desired seam allowance to all edges.

2. Pin cording to the edges or make your own by cutting a piece of cording (enough to go all the way around the table, plus a couple of extra inches). Cover cording with fabric and sew as close to it as possible using a zipper foot along the right side of the fabric. Pin cording to the right side of the top piece of fabric and sew into position (or wait until after step 3 if desired).

3. Measure the desired length and width for the skirt, adding extra for seam allowances and hems. Cut fabric. Fold long edges over to create a half-inch double hem and iron into place. Stitch into position.

4. With right sides together, place raw edge of skirt pieces over cording and pin in place. Where ends of skirt meet, pin and stitch together. Then stitch through all three layers to join top, welting and skirt.

5. Clip corners. Turn right side out and press.
