Materials Needed:

  • air-dry or oven-bake sculpting clay
  • rolling pin
  • ruler
  • clay tool or craft knife
  • baking sheet and oven, if using oven-bake clay
  • glue
  • small magnets
  • washi tape
  • Craft paint, paint brushes or permanent markers (optional)

Roll Out Clay

Warm the sculpting clay in your hands until it’s soft. Use the rolling pin to roll out a sheet that’s about 3" x 3" and 1/4" thick.

Cut Out Rectangle

Using the ruler and a craft knife, cut away the excess clay until you have a rectangle that’s approximately 2-1/4" x 3".

Cut Out Inner Square

Use the ruler and craft knife again to cut out a square that’s approximately 1-3/4” on each side. Clean up any messy edges with the craft knife.

Bake or Dry Clay Shapes

Follow the directions on your clay packaging for baking and/or hardening.

Add Magnets and Embellishments

Once the clay Polaroids are hardened and cooled, glue a small magnet onto the back of the clay.

Allow the glue to dry completely. If desired, decorate the front side of the clay frame with paint or Sharpie pens. Or leave them white for a classic look!

Add Photos

Use a bit of washi tape to attach your favorite Instagram to the back of the frame. Switch the photos out when you have a new favorite! Hang on your refrigerator and enjoy.
