Stencil a Tea Towel in Five Steps

For this project, the Crafty Lumberjacks use a homemade stencil, but any purchased stencil will work for this craft. Start by placing your stencil on a piece of craft paper and applying a thin coat of spray adhesive to one side (Image 1). Take the sticky side of the stencil and place it firmly on the tea towel (Image 2). Next, add a small amount of fabric paint to a tray. Dip a stencil brush lightly into the fabric paint and use a repetitive, tapping motion to remove any excess (Image 3). Tip: Stenciling is a dry brush technique and requires very little paint. Apply light layers of paint onto the stencil starting with the edges and ending in the center (Image 4). Repeat several times for an even coat. Once it is completely dry, slowly peel the stencil from the tea towel (Image 5).

Craft this stenciled tea towel for a quick, personalized gift or make a few as a matching set.
