Flirty Fabric Flower Pin
Dress up jackets and blouses with this fun fabric flower pin.
Designer Silvia Dotto of Vancouver, Canada, demonstrates how to make an easy flower pin out of fabric remnants and beads.
- fabric remnants
- scrap paper
- different size paper flower patterns
- embroidery strands
- large safety pin
- wire cutters
Steps 1 and 2
Make three different paper flower petal patterns in assorted diameters and petal shapes.
Trace the patterns on the fabric remnants using a mix of patterns per color of fabric. Make a total of eight flower petals in three different colors.
Steps 3 and 4
Cut out the flowers and stack by size, color and shape.
Stack the petals and hold them together with your fingers.
Stitch through the center using embroidery strands.
Steps 6 and 7
Pinch the fabric in the middle in various spots and layers and stitch to create a full-bodied flower.
Cut a piece of wire, bend it in a U-shape and thread both ends through the center of the flower from the back.
String beads onto the ends of the wire and tie the ends together to secure.
Steps 9 and 10
Twist the ends into tiny spirals for decoration.
Add a safety pin to the back of the flirty fabric lapel flower.
