This tree soon comes to life with a little help from your Thanksgiving guests.

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful reminder to be thankful. Each Thanksgiving, we take turns going around the table and sharing what we are most thankful for over the past year. This Thanksgiving, I thought that it would be fun to create a giving tree. I am encouraging our family and guests to write on these paper leaves what they are thankful for and also what they would like to give and share with others over the upcoming year.

When guests arrive, this tree is barren. However, soon enough the tree is bursting with life as guests add their leaves with handwritten sentiments. It's perfect for starting off the holiday season!

Glue for Stability

Hot glue the branch to the bottom of the pumpkin.

Add Dirt

Help to stabilize the pumpkin and branch by filling your pumpkin with potting soil.

Plant Your Pumpkin

Plant the pumpkin with small plants and cover any visible soil with moss. Top the moss with acorns and fresh fallen leaves to mimic the forest floor.

Ready for Leaves

Add the tree to the table top. Here it will wait for its leaves to be added by your family and guests.

Have Leaves Ready

With scissors, cut out leaf patterns of your choice. Next punch holes in the tops and add twine loops for hanging. Scatter these around the table with markers for guests to write on.

Full of Thanks and Giving

Soon enough, the tree is full with lovely thoughts and sentiments of giving and thanks.
