Dreamy Backdrop

You don't need an expensive camera or a studio to make amazing photos. There are several phone apps that produce much more professional results than the built-in camera. Plus, creating a sparkling backdrop only adds to the fun of a wintery photoshoot.

Tools + Materials

You'll need: 12-24 spools of decorative ribbon for every 6-foot wide backdrop; 1 25-foot spool of nylon rope; picture nails; hammer; clear, all-purpose tape; scissors; measuring tape; hot glue gun; hot glue sticks; double-sided tape.

Measure and Cut Rope

Measure the height and width of the area that will be dressed with the ribbon backdrop. On a flat, level surface, unfurl the nylon rope alongside the measuring tape set to the finished width. Add tape around the portion of rope that will be cut to size, then cut.

Unfurl and Cut Ribbon

On a flat, level surface, unfurl a spool of ribbon alongside the measuring tape set to the finished length.

Attach Ribbon to Rope

Loop the end of each ribbon around the nylon rope, then secure it in place with hot glue.

Mix in Strands of Ribbon

Continue attaching ribbon from one end of the rope to the other, keeping each strand butted up directly against the next.

Add Embellishment

Depending on the desired look of your backdrop, add paper decorations by tracing shapes to card stock, cutting out with scissors, then attaching to the strips of ribbon using double-sided tape.
