Make Jam Party Favors

Add a traditional Southern touch to your summer soiree with jarred jam party favors. For this project you'll need: jars of jam; 1/4 yard of fabric; hemp cord or twine; cardstock; small hole punch; and scissors.

Prepare Jars

If you're making jam from scratch, fill the jars and seal tightly. If the jam is store-bought, peel labels off jars.

Make Tags

Cut 1 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch squares out of cardstock paper. Print or handwrite initials or "thank you" message on each square. Use the hole punch to make a hole in the top left corner of each square.

Prepare Fabric and Twine

For a 2-inch lid, cut a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch square of fabric. Since lid sizes will vary, dimensions of fabric squares may need to be slightly larger or smaller. For each jar, cut a 1-foot-long piece of twine.

Assemble Jars

Center fabric square on top of each jar and fold down over the edges. Hold in place and wrap twine around the top of the jar, securing fabric. String tag onto twine and tie.
