Soaring Ceilings

With sloping ceilings that reach 10 feet at their peak, this neutral master bedroom feels open and spacious. Walls painted in a soft hue reflect light and add to the room’s airy design.

Outside Inspiration

According to interior designer Linda Woodrum, the bedroom walls were executed under a very fast-paced timeline. “The room was a metamorphosis when we went up,” says Linda. “The boards (along the walls) replicate the vertical board and battens that are outside on the exterior of the house, so that’s the connection.” By mirroring the outside look within the master bedroom, the home’s modern, Texas style is elevated and really driven home.

Cottage-Inspired Curtains

Blue and white curtains in the same pattern as the comfy throw pillows on the bed add a quaint cottage charm to this sophisticated bedroom.

Dazzling Display

The sparkling, contemporary chandelier is a gorgeous highlight in the space. According to the house planner, Jack Thomasson, “There was a very deliberate orientation of that fixture, so that at night time, when the light is on and you’re on the street, it’s like this perfect framing of the fixture from the front of the house. We spent a lot of time working on getting it the right distance from the ceiling to see it from the street, and it looks really cool.”

Storage With Style

Beneath a large flat-screen television sits a wooden storage shelf that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Because the TV is conveniently mounted to the wall, the top of the shelf is reserved for a few lovely pieces, including a delicate orchid and white table lamp.

Linen Storage Baskets

The wooden storage shelf holds eight cloth baskets, which keep odds and ends out of sight and can be easily washed whenever needed.

Glass Act

A couple of gorgeous glass decanters are displayed below the television to show off the room’s simple and delicate design.

Sweet and Simple Seating

Great for reading, sewing or simply relaxing, a cozy, contemporary chair offers an extra spot for seating and a fantastic view of the master bedroom.

State-of-the-Art Skylights

“The skylights have blackout shades and work from a remote as well as off of an app,” says Jack. “They are a beautiful feature in the house, and they bring wonderful natural light into the space. Plus, with the electronics, they add a lot of versatility to whether you want to black out a room, let the light in, or even open them remotely to let heat out of the house.”

Smart Wet Bar

An in-room wet bar with a penny tile backsplash is a convenient touch to this smart master bedroom. “By using a remote control, the area where the coffee maker is can lift up to reveal a shelf beneath the coffee maker where we have a martini maker and cocktail utensils.,” explains Jack. “It’s really cool, because it converts from a coffee maker area to a fun, kind of kitschy smart feature.”

Superb Master Suite

Just outside of the master bedroom door is a small hallway that leads to both the master bathroom and a fabulous master closet.

Clutter-Free Closet

“The goal is always to maximize space and get as much storage as possible, so you can put things away and not have them out,” says Linda. “The more places you have to put things, the less clutter you have out, and it just makes everything look better.”

Natural Accents

Wooden hangers add a natural touch to the all-white closet, which features several metal rods for hanging clothes as well as storage for shoes and folded items.

Decorative Details

A contemporary round mirror reflects light in the master closet and adds an elegant appeal to the space, while a faux orchid is a sweet touch for year-round enjoyment.

Dressed-Up Dresser

A dresser with stylish details offers extra storage for out-of-season clothing, sheets and more.

Airy and Open

The open entrance to the master bedroom from the hall keeps the room from feeling closed off, while providing easy access to the master closet.

Hall Seating

A large mirror with a weathered wood frame hangs above a sturdy blue bench in the hallway, providing a picturesque seating area at the entrance of the master suite.
