From the Outside In

This home, especially the living room, is all about creating one seamless transition from the outside to the inside, all with a Texas-style design. “Even though we had amazing furniture and an incredible house, we wanted to bring in the outdoors,” explains interior designer Linda Woodrum. “There is an amazing amount of windows that really make this part of the outside.”

Subtle Design

A great mix of patterns and textures comes together to create one cohesive, stylish space. “The living room is very subtle,” explains Linda. “It’s more about the textures and the subtle variations that wrap all around the room.”

Fabulous Accent Pieces

A sculptural table lamp and a few patterned pillows bring plenty of interest to this gorgeous living room while still keeping with the subdued nature of the room.

LED Lighting

Throughout the home, recessed can lights illuminate the space. According to house planner Jack Thomasson, “We have really great hip designer lighting around the house. We have somewhere between 42 and 45 can lights in the house. All of the decorative fixtures throughout the house use LED bulbs, including the candelabra bulbs above the dining table and all the lamps; so we have a complete LED story here.”

Native Style

A funky cowhide patterned ottoman brings a healthy dose of Texas style into the space and also holds a complete set of bedding for the living room’s sleeper sofa.

Luxurious Seating

Leather chairs flank the credenza and offer a couple of extra seats for when company stops by.

High-Tech Sound System

Speakers in the ceiling ensure a surround-sound experience in this contemporary living room.

Mid-Century Vibe

A metal-framed credenza is a stunning piece that offers extra storage when needed and can even house a few favorite reads.

Through the Sliding Glass

Sliding glass doors lead the way from the living room to the unbelievable back deck, which features a state-of-the-art gas grill as well as comfortable seating for six.

Southern Accents

A mosaic horse statue brings another element of Texas life into the charming living room. According to Linda, “There are a lot of fun objects in the room that add to this story and are subtle references to being in Texas with a lot of its wide open countryside – little subtle tweaks that reference where we are without being too in-your-face.”

Natural Appeal

A gorgeous wooden end table serves as an interesting accent piece that brings a bit of nature indoors.

Styles Collide

The coffee table offers both a rustic and contemporary flair with a metal base and wooden tabletop.

Mirror Magic

Behind the sofa, an industrial metal mirror reflects light in the room, making the space appear brighter and larger.

Dose of Decadence

A studded pillow in a leather wingback chair brings just a hint of glamor to this otherwise earthy living room.

Down on the Farm

While books and plants are coffee table standbys, this adorable iron pig provides a dash of whimsy in this sweet, casual space.

Ready to Entertain

By including a sleeper sofa in the living room, it can also double as the guest quarters. For this reason, a full bathroom is just steps away. “If you’re going to make a sleeper sofa part of the floor plan, you have to have a full bath on the same floor, or else you’re inconveniencing your guests,” explains Linda.

Personal Space

“The living room can be a guest room, because we have an accessible bathroom and power blinds on all of the windows,” says Linda. “You can have complete privacy when you’re in this space.”
