Smart Locks

Losing your keys is no big deal, since HGTV Smart Home 2015 offers a practical keyless entry.

Safe and Secure

The front door can be opened remotely or the homeowner can program up to 19 passcodes, making the smart lock especially efficient.

Tech-Friendly Blinds

Crisp white power-blinds can be operated from the two iPads that live within the home. Some even interface with the server to go up and down depending on the amount of sun coming in, the time of day and even the season of the year.

Clever Candles

“The dining table is a wonderful picnic-like table with a rustic top and one of the fun things we did on top of that was a collection of mercury glass and candles that operate through remote controls,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum.

Welcoming Entry

A revolutionary garage door opener guarantees entry even when the power is out and offers quiet operation and a timer-to-close feature. An internet gateway device can also connect the garage door opener to the internet, enabling smart phone control.

Smart Control Panel

A menu driven smart control panel can program remote controls, adjust light settings and display garage temperature, time and system diagnostics.

Wireless Keyless Entry System

A keypad is provided on the garage exterior as an additional option of entry.

Austin Energy Green Building Plaque

A plaque showing off HGTV Smart Home 2015’s status as an Austin Energy Green Building is prominently displayed out front.

Tech-Savvy Home Control System

Full of high-tech amenities, a docking station with iPad control is a must in the state-of-the-art HGTV Smart Home 2015 kitchen.

Concealed Entertainment

“We do have one really creative feature of the kitchen, which is the hidden television above the hood that works with a remote and works with the smart device,” says house planner Jack Thomasson. “Whether you are sitting at the island or you are cooking and watching the Food Network, you can drop that television down, which makes for a creative and smart feature in the kitchen.”

Tucked Away

With a touch on the remote or smart device, the TV in the kitchen returns back into the ceiling for easy storage access.

Comfort Control

The HGTV Smart Home 2015 is equipped with a programmable thermostat, a smart feature that saves energy, lowers heating and cooling bills and can be controlled by a smartphone.

Sixth Sense Technology

Silver stacked washer and dryer feature sixth sense technology with the ability to activate specific options while away from home.

Innovative Skylight Remote

“The remote control skylights with blackout shades bring wonderful natural light into those spaces plus a lot of versatility. Whether you want to black out a room, let the light in or even open them remotely to let heat out, they are a beautiful feature of the house,” says house planner Jack Thomasson.

Controlled Natural Light

The loft makes great use of light by combining recessed lighting and an overhead lamp with the natural lighting from three skylights.

Skylight Trio

Skylights are a great addition to this loft as they let natural light in and reduce the need for artificial light, but when it’s time to enjoy the TV, these smart skylights have shades for blocking out the sun and eliminating glare.

Tech-Smart Shower

A state of the art rain shower head makes for a luxurious showering experience, while the digital controls epitomize the HGTV Smart Home 2015 master bathroom.

Wall-Mounted Television in Master Bathroom

This master bathroom really has it all, including ceiling speakers and a wall-mounted television that can be easily seen from the tub and the shower. Sit back, relax and catch up on your favorite shows, all while enjoying a relaxing soak in the contemporary bathtub.

Magic Window

A window above the bathtub floods the HGTV Smart Home 2015 master bathroom in natural light, whether warm sunrays or romantic moonbeams. “We have a window in the master bathroom called E glass, so at the flip of a switch, it goes from being perfectly clear to completely frosted,” explains the home’s house planner, Jack Thomasson. “It’s one of those things where you wouldn’t have wanted to put a shade on that window. But at nighttime when you’re in the shower, even though it’s not at an alarmingly-low level for privacy, it still feels a little uncomfortable that you have this window that would be just pitch black in your bathroom. So it’s a really cool feature.”

The Ultimate Entertainment

Flush mounted speakers enhance the audio experience in the upstairs loft.

Concealed Audio System

Tucked inside a rack cabinet outside of the kids' bedroom, the sleek audio system is the hub for all programmable audio options throughout the house and can be synced to a smart device.

Mattress Control

In this smart master bedroom, a control with apps allows the homeowners to personalize aspects of the room, from matress firmness to window shades, without ever leaving the comfort of the bed.

Smart Wet Bar

An in-room wet bar with a penny tile backsplash is a convenient touch to this smart master bedroom. “By using a remote control, the area where the coffee maker is can lift up to reveal a shelf beneath the coffee maker where we have a martini maker and cocktail utensils.,” explains Jack. “It’s really cool, because it converts from a coffee maker area to a fun, kind of kitschy smart feature.”

Concealed Coffee Service in Bedroom

A martini and cocktail shelf collapses under the countertop revealing only the coffee maker for a smooth night to morning transition.
