With a palette inspired by fall colors, the master bedroom combines rustic, masculine details with bold colors and graphic patterns to create a warm, inviting space.

A wall of windows puts the view on permanent display.

A woven tray and simple dishware stand ready for breakfasts served in bed.

New neutrals, like charcoal, gray and greige (a mix of gray and beige), create a backdrop for burnt orange and sunflower yellow.

A streamlined headboard upholstered in gray-brown is a chic twist on the classic brown leather often found in mountain homes.

A purely modern fireplace surround is the focal point on this side of the room. Burnt orange armchairs create a cozy spot to enjoy the flames.

"Bright rust and yellow...give the room some richness," interior designer Linda Woodrum says.

Creamy white phalaenopsis orchids with yellow centers bloom inside a bronze-finished square brass planter.

In a home defined by its connection to the outdoors, this table is inspired by nature's modern side. Narrow strips of steel are cut in a frame design that echoes the shape of individual tree branches. The table is topped with beveled glass.

A side chair and a graphic wooden side table sit beside the window, ready for an afternoon of reading.

"It's important to balance masculine details with luxury," interior designer Linda Woodrum says. "With the leather headboard, a soft houndstooth check provides the balance."

A six-light iron chandelier with glossy black shades brings an industrial touch to this warm, modern space.

A double-sided fireplace lends warmth and ambience in both the master bedroom and patio. The chimney, wrapped in sheets of matte hot-rolled steel, is a focal point inside the master bedroom.

The 32-inch gas fireplace features a streamlined, modern front with a fog gray finish.

"We went crazy on the drapes and went with a damask," interior designer Linda Woodrum says. "We wanted something with a luxurious feel that also brought in a pattern."

Menswear fabrics like pinstripe, herringbone and plaid are paired with bold geometric patterns and bright hues.

In a large-scale room, the right size furniture is important. The bedside stands are actually full-size dressers, so they do double-duty holding lamps and essentials as well as clothing.

"We used some contemporary, simple, bold art to keep it 'New Mountain,'" interior designer Linda Woodrum says.

A quatrefoil-shaped mirror with an elm-veneered frame sits atop the bed, reflecting the glow from the chandelier, fire and windows.

Take a break from the breathtaking views to enjoy a show or movie on the wall-mounted flat-screen TV.

This graphic black-and-white monoprint by American artist Susan Gillette offers high-contrast interest and repeats the geometric motifs seen throughout the home. A narrow metal frame keeps attention focused on the art itself.

Hand scraped bamboo floors lead into the adjacent master bathroom.
