Black and White

No matter what trade show I might be attending or what country I might be traveling to, I always seem to find products in black and white refreshing. It's a resting point for my eyes and a way to wipe my overstimulated mind clear after viewing so many patterns and colors.

I'm always amazed to see how architecture mimics life. I love the repetition of the windows and the various angles of the buildings here in New York City and how they create a "pattern play" effect that mimic the graphic patterns of the decorative pillows. — Nancy Fire

Marsala (And Tones Of...)

From Rina Menardi's organic Italian ceramics to the Marsala-inspired thatched cottage in Wales, we're seeing berry tones through shades of Marsala working side by side, creating refreshing ways to use these color families. A great way to introduce the color Marsala into any space is to combine tones of berries, reds and pale pinks to work as an extended color family. — Nancy Fire

Into the Blues

While traveling through Wales on one of my trend trips, I took note of all the beautiful painted doors that I came across. This powder blue doorway was especially interesting to me because of the resurgance of blues in both interiors and home products. While we know blues are trending, shibori is close to our hearts. And Nancy Fire Studio Design Works International is creating pattern collections around this technique. — Nancy Fire

Pale Pink

While visiting the town of Bridgend, Wales I came across this pale-pink stone cottage in the updated pastel palette that we see trending in home interiors today. It's interesting to see that exteriors, as well as interiors, are looking fresh in pale tones. These contemporary fabric chairs look updated by combining pale pink with some neutral tones to neutralize the color palette. This bedding from Heimtextil (an international trade fair for home and contract textiles) in Germany shows an updated twist on a more traditional medallion in this softer color combination. — Nancy Fire

A Green State of Mind

This is a celebration of tonal hues working together in monochromatic color stories. The green tones on the table are a mix of many shades and tints within the green color story along with beautiful painted textures that create a weathered look and feel, especially combined with this rustic exposed brick wall. — Nancy Fire
