Get ready for a season full of personality and spunk. No sequin is too shiny. No dress is too red. No outfit is too disheveled. This is the time to stand out, be seen and, above all, purchase a suit.

Pink and velvet are still very much trending for fall 2017. However, there are some new players in town, most notably, shades of red, mustard yellow, sleek suiting and plaid patterns. Take a look at this year's newest styles.

Shimmer + Shine

Lurex, satin and sequins make everyday basics, like turtlenecks and tights, more lively. This season, don iridescent and sparkly pieces with aplomb.

CHRISTOPHER KANE

An iridescent cardigan and skirt set at Christopher Kane.

ZIMMERMANN

A one-shoulder sequin dress at Zimmermann.

OSMAN

An asymmetric sequin dress and matching boots at Osman.

SAINT LAURENT

A silver knit sweater and glittery slouch boots at Saint Laurent.

CHANEL

A silver belted jacket, glittery boots and tights, and jeweled headband at Chanel.

Everything Was Red

Givenchy not-so-subtly declared red THE color of the season when the atelier showed a 27-look collection in the firey hue.

Above: A sharp, minimalistic look at Narcisco Rodriguez.

JIL SANDER

A loose-fit matching set at Jil Sander.

BROCK

A voluminous, tiered dress at Brock.

FENDI

A fitted, '60s style jacket with leather knee-high boots at Fendi.

ADAM SELMAN

High-waisted pants with a wide belt at Adam Selman.

ROKSANDA

A structured, asymmetric dress at Roksanda.

Suit Up

Oversized and boxy, sharp and fitted, exaggerated and bold — no matter what kind of shape fits your fancy, one thing is clear, suits of all styles are IN.

Above: An all-business look at Max Mara.

JOSEPH

A brocade, tapestry-inspired set at Joseph.

CALVIN KLEIN

A gray jacket and skirt set with cowboy boots at Calvin Klein.

JACQUEMUS

A blazer with exaggerated shoulders and lopsided button at Jacquemus.

DRIES VAN NOTEN

A bright orange, loose-fit set from Dries van Noten.

CELINE

A simple look with an exaggerated pointed collar at Céline.

Florals Forever

This seasonless print gets a refresh for fall in dark, moody hues with attitude. Go full on Victorian with a high-neck collar or keep it modern with a fitted silhouette.

Above: A full-length dress with balloon sleeves at Gucci.

EMILIA WICKSTEAD

Dark, moody mixed prints at Emilia Wickstead.

PREEN

Primary-colored flowers at Preen.

DOLCE & GABBANA

A matching coat and dress at Dolce & Gabbana.

DELPOZO

A ruffled, satin set at Delpozo.

TORY BURCH

A chinoiserie-inspired set at Tory Burch.

Not-So-Mellow Yellow

We've entered the golden era. Designers showed yellow looks in an array of fabrics, from buttery leather to soft velvet to plush shearling. This color clearly isn't just for summer anymore.

VALENTINO

A soft and romantic dress with leather boots at Valentino.

ERDEM

A luxe velvet skirt at Erdem.

VERSACE

A highlighter yellow shearling jacket at Versace.

JASON WU

An elegant velvet gown with cut-outs at Jason Wu.

LOEWE

A drop-waist leather dress at Loewe.

Pile on the Plaid

Go full on plaid or just a touch. Either way is fine for fall, just don't skip this trend. And with so many kinds of plaid, it's impossible to go wrong. Plus, this pattern is timeless, so feel free to go overboard.

Above: The pants do all the talking at Hermés.

STELLA MCCARTNEY

A prim and proper pair at Stella McCartney.

TORY BURCH

A mismatched plaid skirt-and-sweater-pairing at Tory Burch.

OFF-WHITE

An edgy, blue plaid jacket, skirt and boots matching set.

JENNY PACKHAM

A floaty, feminine dress at Jenny Packham.

MULBERRY

Mixed plaids at Mulberry.

Fur + Shearling

Fur coats and accessories started trending last year, but they're back in full force for Fall 2017. Sprinkle in some shearling jackets, and consider your outerwear taken care of.

Above: Shearling doesn't shy away from the spotlight at Proenza Schouler.

EACH X OTHER

A fur-patched coat and fuzzy shoes at Each X Other.

BALMAIN

A stand-out shearling coat at Balmain.

MSGM

A touch of color updates a classic fur coat at MSGM.

MARC JACOBS

A boxy suede and shearling jacket at Marc Jacobs.

MIU MIU

A soft pink jacket and baby blue-fur hat at Miu Miu.

Strong Set of Shoulders

Puffed, pointed, drooping - shoulder stood out (literally) this season. Fitted bottoms keep all the focus up top and prevent the look from veering into costume territory.

Above: Statment shoulders elevate a basic striped shirt at Tibi.

MUGLER

A celestial-inspired dress at Mugler.

HAIDER ACKERMANN

A sharp black jacket at Haider Ackermann.

ISABEL MARANT

Oversized shoulders at Isabel Marant.

JACQUEMUS

A jacket with larger-than-life collars and shoulders and a nipped waist at Jacquemus.

BOTTEGA VENETA

A ladylike midi dress with structured shoulders at Bottega Veneta.

Sheer Delight

A tricky trend to pull off, certainly, but layering makes it easy. Sheer turtlenecks make summery dresses appropriate for winter. Tulle dresses add whimsy when thrown over a conservative dress or pants.

Above: Strategically placed netting at Alexander McQueen.

NARCISCO RODRIGUEZ

A slinky slip dress under a wispy thin sheer dress at Narcisco Rodriguez.

DIOR

A Victorian-inspired tulle dress at Dior.

MOLLY GODDARD

A smocked, tie-shoulder dress at Molly Goddard.

CHLOE

A simple layered look at Chloe.

SIMONE ROCHA

A barely-there sheer dress with floral applique and fur bows adds a dramatic, smoky element at Simone Rocha.

Pieced Together

Call it deconstructed, patchwork or simply, innovation. This season, designers showed that thinking outside of the sewing pattern pays off. Now is the time to experiment with styling and challenge the norm.

Above: A chic, disheveled look at Milly.

ACNE

A patched up, asymmetric sweater at Acne.

LIBERTINE

A Harlequin-inspired jacket and pants set at Libertine.

COACH

A '70s-inspired dress with smocking and retro florals at Coach.

BALENCIAGA

Asymmetric, haphazard buttoning at Balenciaga.

MONSE

A deconstructed blouse and herringbone skirt at Monse.

Feathers + Fringe

Stringy fringe and floaty feathers add movement to fall's heavy looks. Designers incorporated these playful elements into skirts, shoes, jackets and dresses whenever possible, and you should too.

Above: Lace cut-outs and fringe lighten up a black dress at Prabal Gurung.

J. W. ANDERSON

Feathers bring whimsy to an urban look at J.W. Anderson.

MICHAEL KORS

Sparkles and fringe on display at Michael Kors.

CALVIN KLEIN

Blue and white plumes burst out of a transparent plastic dress at Calvin Klein.

EMILO PUCCI

Hot pink fringe at Emilo Pucci.

PRADA

Orange and peach feather accents at Prada.
