At Home With Carole Shashona

The first female Grand Master in Feng Shui, Carole Shashona has been helping clients bring peace and harmony to their homes and lives for more than 25 years. Now, Carole gives us a look inside her own beautifully designed residence in California.

Entryway

Carole says she likes to shop from home products at antique stores and second-hand shops. “I love to browse and mix periods – I find this juxtaposition interesting for interior design,” she adds. “I always love to put in something different as well as layering each room with lighting and texture.”

Living Room

Lined with rich woods, the living room is warm and inviting. "My home represents comfort; each room fulfills a purpose,” Carole says. “For example, love and passion: my bedroom. Friendship and relaxation: the living room.”

Ocean View

The living room opens to a balcony that overlooks the ocean.

Dining Room

In the dining room, an original Andy Warhol portrait of Carole hangs above the fireplace mantel.

Bedroom

“I love monochromatic color and I am a texture person,” Carole says. “I love when silk combines with linen, rough stone, and glass. I love mohair and lacquer.” Her favorite colors for relaxing are soft blues, greens and lavenders, while stimulating colors she loves including lacquer red, orange and shocking pink.

Bedroom Accessories

Carole lists candles, flowers and color as some of her must-have essentials for the home. “Anything that stimulates my senses,” she says.
