Your favorite HGTV stars share their favorite fall color picks, from light pinks to deep blues.

As if there weren’t enough reasons to love the start of fall, the changing of the tree color guard is finally in full effect in many places around the country. Traditionally, deep reds, yellows and greens are the most obvious and popular choices for changing up the colors in your home to reflect the coming fall season, but what about thinking outside the autumnal box?

We asked some of your favorite hosts from HGTV and DIY Network for their color picks to make your rooms pop this fall — get ready to be inspired!

Kortney Wilson, Masters of Flip

Light Pinks:

"I can't get enough of the light-pink hues mixed with a touch of gray or lavender," says Kortney Wilson. "They pair nicely with brass and gold fixtures which are extremely hot finishes right now, and yet these delicate colors still allow the room to handle everything from rustic to sophisticated furnishings."

Monica Potter, Welcome Back Potter

"I love white as a backdrop for everything, because it allows me to use that as the foundation for each season. So, if I’m decorating for fall (and you can be sure I am!), I have the backdrop of white, and all the other colors — the greens, the yellows, the oranges and the browns — will pop more," Monica says. "In the case of my childhood home in Welcome Back Potter, I used a solid stain in the color 'Extra White' by Sherwin-Williams."

Scott McGillvray, Buyers Bootcamp

Darker Grays:

"Grey is a great neutral that works in just about any room, and darker shades work particularly well in the cooler months," Scott says. "I like to use it in combination with light neutrals and reflective surfaces in order to maximize light and keep the overall atmosphere from being too dark."

Favorite Paint Color:

Para Paints — Mennonite Grey Tint 2

Warm Reds:

"I’m not a big color guy, but I like using strong tones in certain applications. In this case, it helps to warm up a basement family room, and by only using it on the bottom half of the wall it makes the ceiling appear higher," Scott says. "A warm red with rusty undertones is also a great way to bring some of the fall colors indoors."

Favorite Paint Color:

Para Paints — Asian Rose

Erin Napier, Home Town

Charleston Green:

"A front door painted in a mysterious, inky shade (is it black? is it green?) is gorgeous in a semi-gloss finish with antique brass hardware and rusty terra-cotta tones of pumpkins and mums," Erin says.

White furniture shines against the dark green wall coloring in this contemporary bedroom. A large white bed frame is upholstered with velvet at the head and foot of the bed for a softened feel. Nightstands with nail-head trim support matching table lamps to finish the room.

Jeff Devlin, Stonehouse Revival

Deep Blues, Blacks:

"Not to sound at all boring, but because my roots are the old homes I have a tendency to choose a neutral palette for the walls like a 'White Dove' from Benjamin Moore and accentuate the trim with a deeper tone like 'Williamsburg Wythe Blue,'" Jeff says.

"I love the clean, crisp look of a light, white wall with a darker contrasting trim color against old pine amber-colored floors. It's great to make a room feel comfortable and it's easy to accessorize and add colors depending of the season. In the fall I love it when a room feels like it's giving you a big hug, and this combo does it for me," Jeff says.
