Embrace the Adult Coloring Trend With This Geometric, Printable 2016 Calendar

Liven up your desk for the new year! Personalize your workspace with this printable 2016 coloring calendar.

It should surprise no one that the HGTV offices have fully embraced the adult coloring fad. My friend Jessica keeps her favorite coloring books stacked on her desk atop issues of HGTV magazine, and Liz strung up one of these DIY ornaments in her cubicle for the holidays. So naturally the I Heart HGTV team thought of a fab way for you to incorporate some coloring goodness into your everyday decor: a printable calendar!

I've drawn a different geometric design for you to color each month. All you have to do is print out this calendar, and follow the how-to below. There's even a template for the stand. So dress up your desk for the new year and keep colored pencils on hand for your next lunch break!

Materials Needed

  • colored pencils
  • cardboard for stand
  • decorative tape
  • tissue paper for decorating (optional)
  • decoupage glue (optional)

Print Calendar

Print off the I Heart HGTV 2016 calendar on cardstock. Grab two or three pages at a time and use the crop marks to line up your ruler. With a craft knife, cut mark to mark. You can see where I’ve marked the cut lines with a pink pencil in the picture above. By cutting mark to mark, you’ll keep all the pages lined up and ensure that each page is uniform.

Cut Out Calendar Stand

On page 13 of your print-outs, you’ll find the template for the calendar stand. Cut along the dotted line. Then, find a piece of sturdy cardboard and cut out two of these pieces. I used a white mat from an old picture frame, but you could use a box or even an old book cover.

Decorate the Stand

If you've used a plain piece of cardboard like I have, decorate it! I used decoupage glue and tissue paper.

Connect the Pieces of the Stand

Connect the two pieces to form a stand, and secure with a decorative tape.

Color All Year Long!

Set your 12 months of coloring pages in the stand you just made, and display it on your desk. Keep colored pencils nearby for those long phone meetings or afternoon coffee breaks!
