Two Millennials, One Antique Show: See the 5 Trends We've Spotted So Far

In with the old, out with the new.

This weekend, we're hitting up the Nashville Antiques and Garden Show (and we're totally geeking out). From hundreds of booths filled to the brim with antiques to indoor garden displays that would make even the gardens of Versailles jealous, we get to see it all. But don't worry, we're ready and willing to share everything we see and learn. First, let's start with the five major trends we're seeing across the board.

Ferns Are the New Black

It’s all about the ferns. While succulents have topped the hot list for years, 2017 is less about structure and more about soft, free-flowing greenery that works just as well hanging on your porch as it does incorporated into your landscape. These little beauties are ready for their close-ups.

Vignettes? Vign-YES

This is a trend that serious collectors have known about for a while, but now everyone is getting on board. We're finding that modern design is less about following the rules and more about showing off the things you really love. If it makes you happy, put it on display.

Patina is Bae

This green rust has us all worked up. When it comes to design, we're seeing all things patina, and frankly, we're obsessed. Think Fixer Upper with a Tuscan twist. Sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for.

Blurred Lines

Living space doesn’t have to be confined to the living room. And you don’t need statement art when you have a picture window. This year, it’s all about making indoor spaces greener and outdoor spaces more livable.

YOU-nique Design

Is it old? Is it signed? Is it in perfect condition? Who cares. The new generation of antiquers cares less about choosing decor based on what someone else says is valuable and more about hunting for the things they really love. After all, what good is an antique settee when you can’t even sit on it?
