Hide CaptionShow CaptionA beautiful Japanese-style mural is painted on the wall behind the bed.
The focal point of the home is the handpainted, Japanese-style wall mural above the bed. To create the warm sunset-like backdrop, several shades of similar-colored paint were blended together, with the darkest on top. The translucent, color-wash effect is achieved by mixing one part glaze with five parts paint. To start the mural, Kenneth first sketches the design directly on the wall. He uses a fluid motion to paint the branches, leaves and flowers to give it a soft, feminine touch.

Kenneth's Tip: When planning a mural, experiment on paper before painting the walls.
