After

  • The bottom three-fourths of the wall is painted a sage green and the remaining wall is painted a striped cream and seascape blue. Dainty flowers are stamped randomly on the stripes and accented with hand-painting.
  • The bed frame is painted white and the headboard is accented with an upholstered insert. Foam, fabric and trim are stapled into a center insert for a one-of-a-kind design. A checked fabric is stitched into a bed skirt and duvet is created out of a floral print, coral and cream pinstripe and more of the bedskirt material. A $19 bed sheet is used for the underside of the duvet.
  • Twin side tables, which were actually the sides from a dressing table, are painted white and lightly distressed. A $10 dresser is also updated with white paint.
  • The window treatment hangs from the wall from a tree-branch window rod.

Before

  • Crawford drips yellow acrylic paint inside two crystal lamp bases to coordinate with the rest of the room. The self-adhesive lampshade is decorated with fabric, ribbon and silk roses.
  • A simple hat rack is embellished with silk roses.
  • Atop the dresser is a wooden angel plaque and on either side is floral artwork made out of vintage glass doors and silk hydrangea blossoms.
  • A small step stool is created out of tree branches and an upholstered top.

    How-to: Fabric Headboard Insert

    Steps:

    1. Draw out the pattern on the headboard.
    2. Cut foam and batting to size and staple in place. Trim off excess.
    3. Cut fabric and staple over the foam and batting.
    4. Create a double-welt out of the same material or use coordinating trim to finish the edge.

  • How-to: Silk Flower Wall Art

    Steps:

    1. Pull the individual blossoms off of two silk hydrangeas.
    2. Arrange the blossoms on top of small glass doors, frames, etc. and hot-glue into place.
