Hide CaptionShow CaptionFontana creates a personalized border out of the Patels' travel photos and some vintage maps from a computer clip-art program.
He prints the paper border at a local print shop and then stipples a golden oak stain over the paper to add random color along the border. He covers the entire border with a golden amber shellac to protect the paper and to create a sepia-toned, antique-looking element. He then mounts the paper to veneer using spray glue. Once up on the wall, Fontana frames the border with bamboo for that perfect finishing touch.
