Add molding to wine crates for useful storage.

Materials:

2 wine crates
latex paint
brushes
molding (pre-cut for legs)
sandpaper
drill and bit
cabinet door
finishing nails
hammer
butcher-block oil

Steps:

  1. Paint the outside and inside of the crates in desired color. Sand four pieces of molding that have been cut to about waist height for the legs. Paint legs to match the crates.
  2. Once dry, mark one strip of molding nine inches down from the top and 11 inches from the top on the other. Alternating the measurement by two inches on each strip allows the crates to be attached at an angle.

Figure A

  • Line up the bottom crate directly under the top one leaving about six inches in between. Once aligned, leave enough room for legs at the bottom and drill four screws into each crate to attach the molding strips. Repeat this process for the bottom crate.

  • Figure B

  • Add a cabinet door to the top of the vegetable rack with finishing nails. Rub butcher-block oil to the top surface for protection.
