Elizabeth and Cullen Agler's family room is a converted porch, so one wall is actually metal siding, and part of the ceiling contains the original eaves. The awkward room has four entry doors and a view of the bathroom window. The curtains are hung with PVC piping, and the kids' toys and stuff are everywhere. One nice touch, though, is that Elizabeth created all the artwork in the room, which illustrates her whimsical nature.
The room still looks like a temporary space, so host Karen McAloon and the Design Remix team turn it into the cozy, welcoming family room. Noticing Elizabeth's penchant for whimsy, the team employs some easy paint treatments and crafty carpentry to tranform the room from uninviting and awkward into a whimsical cottage space.
