Taking advantage of the long wall that connects the dining area to the living room, Kristan creates custom cabinetry that also features a desk. She paints a piece of 3/4-inch MDF (medium-density fiberboard) to use as the desktop. A simple wall-mount of wood braces nailed into the wall eliminates the need for four legs. Kristan does use one pre-fabricated turn leg for added support along the front of the desk. She also adds molding to the front of the desktop to match the sideboard.
